PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) therapy helps to promote healthy hair growth naturally as well as stimulate blood circulation in the scalp which creates optimal conditions for hair regrowth and hair repair. PRF therapy shows promise in treating androgenetic alopecia, hair thinning as well as being widely used in enhancing facial aesthetics.
Both platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) treatments can be used for both hair regeneration and facial aesthetics, it is created by components in your own blood to repair your damaged hair follicles, reduce your hair loss and stimulate healthy hair and scalp.
It can also boost collagen production in the facial skin. Creating a more youthful glowing appearance, improving fine lines and wrinkles as well as facial fullness, which some individuals are using this more natural approach than having filler injections.
Both of these treatments are obtained by drawing a sample of blood from your own arm and placing it into a centrifuge machine which separates the blood , the red blood cells are then removed and discarded, then depending on which treatment the client has chosen the remaining serum is placed back into the centrifuge machine to help separate blood cells further. Leaving a very small amount of growth factors (which resemble a fraction) PRP and PRF that is injected into the scalp for hair regeneration can encourage stronger healthier, fuller hair. These technique relies on growth factors found in platelets to repair damage that has been done to your hair follicles.
These growth factors can also help regenerate the small blood vessels in your scalp that nourish your hair follicles and support the formation of new hair.
Symptoms that may be experienced after treatment:- headaches, bruising, scaring, bleeding, infection at sight of punctured skin, soreness.
This is a non invasive treatment, most people can return to normal activities shortly afterwards. Although it is recommended not to do any heavy exercise where you may sweat and perspire, avoiding swimming, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms and direct sunlight.
Please inform myself the therapist if you are on blood thinners or on prescription medication. Some blood thinners can not be taken on the morning of the treatment. In this situation having your doctor’s consent, will be necessary.
Garlic, vitamin E, Aspirin, Ibuprofen can all cause blood thinning.
On the morning of your treatment please drink 3-4 glasses of water to help create a good blood sample, that will be taken from your arm.
Please attend your appointment with a fresh clean face and clean dried hair, with no makeup or lotions on your skin or hair. Please also eat a light meal before you arrive to help with blood pressure and blood sugar levels.
After your treatment if you are having a facial treatment, it is recommended to avoid makeup for a few days to encourage skin healing. A natural makeup after that may be used, avoiding any products that can clog the pores.
Wearing a hat, sunglasses, natural sunscreen after the treatment is strongly advised.
It is also recommended to use a natural shampoo with no chemicals in it such as SLS, parabens or artificial fragrances. As well as a natural facial cleanser without any harsh soaps that can dry the skin out.
