Allergies can be caused by almost anything, the most common being dust mite, cats, dogs, stings from insects such as bees and wasps, pollen from trees and grasses. The immune system reacts to allergens in a similar way as it does to germs. It recognises the allergens as invaders and a reaction attacks them using antibodies called Immunoglobulin E(IgE). This causes a reaction of a substance called histamine within your body, which leads to the development of allergic symptoms. Food intolerance, sensitivities know as Immunoglobulin G (IgG) are antibodies associated with delayed or non - atopic food reactions that exacerbate or contribute to many health problems. High levels of IgG food-specific antibodies can also be associated with intestinal hyperpermeability.
